Hey everyone,
In this episode, Confessions Of A Market Maker host AllxDayxRay had the pleasure of chatting with Kim Sokoloff, a seasoned trader with over 20 years of experience in equity trading and technical research. Kim is known for her expertise in risk management, intraday trading, and market strategy. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on the valuable insights she shares during the podcast you can view & listen to at Confessions Of A Market Maker
But before we dive into the trading talk, I want to give a shout out to Anne Marie Baiynd, who made this podcast episode possible. It's great to see a female trader like her making waves in the industry!
Now, let's get to know Kim a little better. We started off by discussing her low-key presence on social media. Turns out, she's not a fan of it and only has an Instagram account where she posts about her adorable Rhodesian Ridgeback. As a fellow dog lover, I couldn't help but share that I have a husky in Florida, which is quite a contrast to the hot weather!
Moving on, Kim shared her journey into the world of trading. It all started back in 1997 when she overheard a conversation about a trader's assistant position. From there, she worked her way up, eventually collaborating with hedge fund managers and providing them with valuable insights on risk management and stock recommendations.
We also delved into Kim's trading style and the importance of discipline. She admitted that like most traders, she's made mistakes in the past, but she's learned to manage risk and exit trades at the right time. We also discussed the challenges of shorting stocks and the need to be cautious in a market that tends to bounce back.
But it's not all about trading! Kim and I also talked about our running routines and how it helps us relieve stress. We both emphasized the importance of resilience and not giving up, even when we make mistakes. Consistency and risk management are key to surviving in the trading world.
Speaking of trading, Kim shared her approach to assessing risk and setting profit targets. She stressed the need to know your risk tolerance and stick to it, using stop-loss orders to manage risk effectively. And when it comes to profit targets, she looks at various factors like moving averages and previous day's highs.
To wrap things up, Kim gave some valuable advice to new traders. She emphasized the importance of adapting to market conditions and not getting too attached to initial trading ideas. Flexibility is key!
If you're ready to learn from a trading expert and gain some valuable insights into risk management and market strategy, make sure to tune in to this episode with Kim Sokoloff. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Until next time,
